They’re great until they die in the middle of something important. That’s why battery status indicators are so useful. Unfortunately, my system didn’t show the battery level at all. Not entirely surprising, but it sparked an idea: why not write some code to make it work?</p> <p>On KDE, battery status is handled by UPower, which in turn reads from the <code>/sys/class/power_supply/</code> directory.
